You may have heard the words
-
Central Monitoring Station. This is a term used to
refer to a company that provides services to monitor
& inform of burglaries, fire, flood, gas, panic and sometimes
medical emergencies.
Central Monitoring Stations may also provide patrols,
security guards
and supervisory services.
Until recently, Central Monitoring
was coupled with a Central Station, connected
to a premises through expensive leased
telephone lines. The greater the distance between
the central station and the premises being
monitored, the greater the
distance of the leased lines and hence the more
expensive the service. These types of monitoring
services were predominantly used by businesses -
since the cost to a home user made it
prohibitively expensive.
The use of mobile phones the internet and modern
technology has changed this requirement
dramatically. Utilizing the internet, mobile phones
and modern internet ready security systems - information
can be relayed using digital or SMS technology.
Effectively, with the advent of low cost
communications a monitoring station can
be located anywhere in the world. Critically, the
management systems in place should be able to deal
with ALL events - burglary, fire, flood, gas, panic
& medical emergencies - subject to the clients
requirements.
This means that customers are no
longer forced into relying ONLY on local companies,
BUT free to shop around and focus on the QUALITY of
the service being offered. Wherever the location of
the monitoring station. Advantages may
include:
-
The use of Highly trained staff
-
Compliance with required European standards of
performance
-
Types of Services being offered
-
Quality of service being
offered
-
Cost effectiveness of the service
being offered
Utilizing the latest technology,
any number of people can be alerted to a potential burglary
or event - the
level of response can be chosen to suit the
customer's security requirement and budget.
For example
Having purchased a Villa in
Coral Bay, Paphos, Mr. Smith recognized that this
was an important investment. An investment he wanted
to protect. The majority of local companies offered
some type of monitoring BUT he did not feel 100%
sure of how effective they were. The majority of his
time was also spent in the UK.
A neighbour he talked with,
outlined problems with his security system. This was
mainly due to his local supplier having poor, "management & planning structures"
in place. Finally, he found a company
that was based in Cyprus and able to to carry out installation &
maintenance work to the EU standards AND offered
connection to a monitoring facility in the UK - utilizing the latest computer
systems and far more sophisticated management
procedures than any local based company.
The UK monitoring company was
also
ISO 9001 accredited for quality management
systems.
He knew that if there was an alert, triggered by a:
The UK monitoring company
would follow a tried and tested procedure.
This meant that
he would not be contacted unnecessarily. The
monitoring station would contact the appropriate
personnel and ONLY contact him as directed in the
monitoring agreement.
His precious time was not
wasted!
